Back to Basics

Hi everyone!
I know it's been weeks, actually months, since I've written anything. I took a much longer than anticipated break. I promise I had a good reason, though.. You see, I got married! :) While this has been one of the most exciting times of my life, it's also been one of the hardest, most stressful times of my life. I have a dozen or more topics I intend to write about, covering these stresses & the things I've learned this year about love, relationships, & marriage.
I've never felt like I've had family, at least not a good example of family, & now I have one of my own. I've taken on a new role, new responsibilities. I'm not just Kay Wilson, the entrepreneur, anymore. Now I'm Kay Whitt - entrepreneur, student, church volunteer, nanny, housewife, philanthropist, & woman. Emphasis on the "woman." Because being a woman alone is a job in itself.
Everything changed for me this year. & instead of dwelling on the struggles, I've decided to practice what I've spent months preaching - I'm going to embrace my strengths, the old ones & the new ones. I've made a lot of mistakes this year like anyone. I've let people down, I still have promises to uphold, trips to make, & people to reconnect with.
So what does all of this mean? This means it's time to get back to basics. It's time to forget the complexities of life, & remember the privileges. We are blessed. God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers. I am a soldier. & as Pastor Miles said last night in church, soldiers are supposed to fight the good fight. So here I am. Back to basics. FIghting the good fight.
& this time I'm not alone. My husband & I are now one. & we have a lot of work & a lot of fights to fight. & that's exactly what we're going to do. We're going to fight for us, & we're going to fight for you.
I'm back, I'm equipped, & I'm ready to fight for you. I have a lot in store for myself, for you, & for Love over Lust. It's time to stop dwelling on circumstances we have no control over, & take the lead on the ones we do. Hopefully, you're with me. & if you are, I look forward to sharing my lessons from this year with you, one by one, day by day.
Subscribe to the site, & get updates firsthand on new blog publishings, & don't miss a single thing. I promise you need this, & if not you, then someone you know does.
Strength is beauty. Head up & heart strong.
